Camera Systems for Earth Observation

The ALMASpace Multispectral Camera (AMC) is a compact, total refractive camera system capable of provide 10 (up to 16 with appropriate data handling system) channels in the visible spectrum (400-720 nm).

The number of bands and the value of the acquired wavelengths can be selected (both after launch, and during the whole mission lifetime) by storing appropriate palette onboard. This allows a flexible use of the instrument and enables a rapid response on specific targets, especially during disaster monitoring or for environmental and agricultural purposes.

AMC is equipped with a full frame CCD:

- active image area of 2048x2048 pixels (4 MPixels)

- 12 bit radiometric resolution

- JPEG2000 image compressor onboard

From an altitude of 650 km AMC is able to guarantee a GSD of about 30 meters with 60 Km of swath width.
