Spacecraft Adapters and Separation Systems

ALMASpace's adapters and separation systems for microsatellites provide an efficient and affordable solution for spacecraft/launch vehicle interface and satellites separation.

Thanks to the experience build up inside the ALMASat program, a family of adapters and separation systems suitable for VEGA, PLSV and DNEPR launch vehicles has been developed.
The separation systems are based on the classical clamping architecture with pyrotechnical devices, widely used and tested in microsatellites' launches.

The structure of the adapters is designed to damp the mechanical loads from launcher to satellite. Devices and mechanisms are dimensioned using the advanced features of frequency response and PSD analyses to grant high performance-to-weight ratio, together with a good dynamic behavior.

In addition, it is possible to integrate spring-based ejection systems, in order to apply a predefined axial and/or lateral relative velocity to the satellite during separation.
